This has probably been asked before but I couldn't find a specific situation that directly related to mine. I have a 32GB USB flash drive. I have a MBP. I want to plug my USB flash drive in, drag the iTunes music to the flash drive, remove the flash drive, plug it into my new mac, open iTunes on the new mac, drag and drop the iTunes album from the flash drive to the into the iTunes library. Is this possible? Will they transfer over properly? I want to make sure I get my album art with the music. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Have not tried this, but it seems straightforward. I would think if the album art does not transfer, you could try and " get album art" as you would normally and it would fetch it all?

Most (if not all) new cell phones in America have built in GPS as a result of an FCC mandate for Enhanced 9-1-1 capability in mobile devices. Apple may simply be taking this required expense and turning it into a way to get more value in their device by linking it with a built in camera/iPhoto/GoogleMaps. This certainly seems like one of those "why didn't anyone else do that?" sort of (in retrospect) obvious moves that Apple is great at.
Well, someone (or rather, many someones) else have done that on the device side already:
http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2006/03/hidden_gps_photo_feature_on_th.html
I actually thought this was more widespread (cell phones tagging GPS location), but the page linked above says that Sanyo was the first to offer this in the US, last March. So, hmm.
The other approach used for this purpose is to time-synch (within reason) a handheld GPS tracker and your camera's clock, then run software afterwards which plots the pictures on the GPS trail from the tracker. This has been around for ages, but is about five steps beyond what the average Joe would be able to do to enjoy space-mapping of pictures.
Still, aside from sites like Flickr that display the GPS data, there's not much use for it yet. This is where Apple's classic whole-widget approach would pay off: make it easy to get the data into your photos, make it easy to see the data visually, and make it easy to search for the data via Spotlight et al.
Anyway: has anyone tried entering the Latitude/Longitude EXIF info in a picture, import it to iPhoto, and see what happens?

I was about to do the info page for "PowerPC" when I found that wikipedia already has a very complete and factually referenced entry on it (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PowerPC) For broad topics like these, is it acceptable to use their page? Or should something else be done, like a link to wikipedia? I know much of the information on the page doesn't apply to Macs specifically, so should that be removed?
Edit: and material on the 68000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/68000)?

I, too, had a Western Digital drive that suffered from premature ejection. Never had a problem with internal, only USB. Return before something is lost ;)

Hmm, yeah I think I've heard about that before. Thanks. I'll have to look around to see if there's a way to make it work with my mac, or I guess I could just use windows...
If you have an intel Mac then you may be able to use crossover (http://www.codeweavers.com/products/download_trial_macosx/) to get the windows drivers for the XboX controller to work under Mac OS X. I have used it to make the windows drivers for my Logitech Precision Gamepad to work and it is flawless for that purpose.

Thank you both very much for your replies, they were both very helpful. Truly appreciated. I'm going for the non-IS lens to save the pennies as I'm not paying :)
Cheers,

hmm interesting. seems a bit funny how he speaks highly of Apple, compares both their visions, yet declines anything going on. Although, I guess its a way to win people over. Complement someone else in the hope they like you for it.

I use a wired mouse myself, but a lot of people seem to like the Logitech MX 900 (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=3,CONTENTID=7110) and also the sexy sexy TheMouseBT (http://www.macmice.com/themousebt.html).
Try doing a search on the forums, too ... there are a ton of threads on this.

Well, I don't have a removal story to relate, but I do have a large (probably about 4 inches long by 1 inch wide) black tattoo on my ankle that I desperately want to rid myself of. I definitely plan to have it removed at some point in my life, but I simply can't afford it right now. I'm hoping the treatments will become less expensive and more effective in the future.
So, jywv8, your story leads me to believe that my worst fears are true.... that tattoo removal is ultra-expensive and takes a long time. Is it painful too?
Anyway, good luck with the whole thing. I checked out a couple of sites on laser removal, and it honestly made me jealous to see those tattoos disappear like that! I'd give anything to just make mine go away!! Isn't it funny how stupid decisions you make when you're 17 can affect you the rest of your life?? :)

Apple has chosen to use the radeon 9000 because it is $70 vs $125.
The new radeon 9K's are a very cheap chard because ATI has integrated many
of it functions on to one chip. The 150 dollars that ATI quotes for the
price of the 9000 pro is just a special price for us mac users.

Coolest that ive personally been involved with was helping a buddy put a mini in his g3 imac. It was fairly simple since we replaced the crt with an lcd and had lots of room to work with. I believe he's goona be putting the new mac mini in it soon as he just bought one not too long ago. If youre fine with 1024x768 then its a really cool mod and pretty easy to do. Plus its cheap to do since g3 imacs go for like 15 bucks on craigslist and 15 inch lcd monitors arent much either. With the mini you have lots of options depending on your budget.

For which system?
Also the reason for the M rating should be listed on the game. Your parents can decide what they think is appropriate for you based on the content, and not just the rating. If they are worried about you seeing nudity or sex, then you should stay away from Bioware games.

Thanks, but I was not able to find anything on how long the battery is capable of lasting. If I recall correctly, my first battery lasted at least 4 hours (possibly longer). I do not have too many programs running - at least not much more then initially.
Read the BATTERY LIFE FROM A CHARGE section. There is no simple answer, since so many factors affect your individual battery life. That section will explain more fully.

if it hasn't been said before, then I'll say it. It'll be out when its ready.
You can't rush jailbreaks, there are bugs and glitches that have to be ironed out first. Even then you'd still have to compile it into a nice neat package so idiots won't brick their idevice from not following simple directions that require more than 3 steps. Just have patience and enjoy the OFW while you still can before you jump over to the jailbreak and appreciate its offerings more...when it's released that is.
an easy way to keep up to date is to follow the normal iphone devs and hackers on twitter like geohotz, musclenerd, comex, ...i'm sure there are others, they always post updates and repost news links and such.

Like many of you I have installed an SSD as my main boot drive with a spinning disc for large file storage.
I am experiencing some issues on how to organize my files.
I want to keep documents, downloads etc on my SSD. I want to move my music, pictures and movies folders to my HDD. THe problem is my mac won't let me delete the music, pictures, movies folder on my SSD saying OSX needs it.
How do I convince OSX that those folders will be in my other drive from now on?
I guess I could move my hole home folder and make new "documents" and "downloads" on my SSD but I am looking for a more elegant solution.
thanks in advance.
P.S. also microsoft word updates wont work, gets stuck looking at both HDs and won't let me choose one for installation. what is going on there?

Hm, well I just bought this cable from the apple store yesterday.
http://store.apple.com/us/product/TP320LL/A
and to answer the above question, yes I did install the drivers.
Sounds strange. Do you have other Devices connected to your MacBook at the same time? Does your Macbook work with other interfaces / harddiscs you plug in?
Try to chat with the Apogee Support. It's very quick and friendly.
